A short stretch through Kansas with the Rainbow Bridge, then on to the Blue Whale in Catoosa and the Coleman Theater in Miami. In the afternoon you reach Oklahoma City.

Via El Reno and Clinton, the ride continues from Oklahoma into Texas to the large Route 66 Museum in Elk City. In the Texas Panhandle, the restored U-Drop Inn in Shamrock awaits, overnight in Amarillo.

Photo stop at the famous Cadillac Ranch with its ten classic cars planted nose-down in the ground, then via the Mid Point in Adrian and Tucumcari on into the High Plains of New Mexico. Two nights in the historic Old Town of Santa Fe await you.

A free day to relax and shop in Santa Fe, or a New Mexico day ride to the old Indian pueblo of Taos along the Rio Grande, with views from the steel girder bridge high above the Rio Grande Gorge.

A stop in the small town of Madrid and at Maggie's Diner, optionally up to the 3,200 m-plus Sandia Crest, then on to the historic plaza of Albuquerque. Through colorful Navajo country and past the old mission church in Laguna, the ride continues to Gallup.

This Arizona leg runs through Petrified Forest National Park and past the historic Wigwam Motel in Holbrook to Winslow, made famous by the Eagles, and on to the rustic overnight stop of Williams.

The highlight of the tour: an optional helicopter flight, followed by the scenic road along the south rim with Duck Rock, Grand View and Desert View, plus a lunch break at the old Cameron Trading Post in the middle of the Navajo Reservation.

Via Crookton Road to Seligman and Angel Delgadillo, through the Hualapai Reservation and the western town of Oatman, this leg runs into the casino town on the Colorado River and on into Sin City.

Via the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead, this leg leads through the Mojave Desert, past Roy's Café in Amboy and the famous Bagdad Café from the movie, with an overnight stay in Barstow.

Via the winding Angeles Crest Highway through the San Gabriel Mountains and Topanga Canyon, you reach coastal Highway 1 and finally Los Angeles, the destination of this California leg.
