Self-Guided Black Forest & Lake Constance Tour

Via Kappelrodeck and Sasbachwalden along the Baden Wine Route to Baden-Baden, then through Gernsbach to the Rote Lache and into the Murg valley to Forbach, Kaltenbronn, Baiersbronn and Freudenstadt. On through the Kinzig valley with Schiltach and Wolfach, over the Schönberg back to Lahr. Around 240 kilometres of Black Forest motorcycle riding through vineyards and forest roads.

Through the Rench and Lierbach valleys you reach Allerheiligen with its monastery ruins and waterfall, before the Schwarzwald High Road invites photo stops at Mummelsee and the Schwarzenbachtalsperre. A short walk leads to the Teufelsloch rock formation, then the route continues past the Nagold reservoir through Freudenstadt and Bad Rippoldsau back to base. Around 240 kilometres.

Via Löcherberg, Strittberg and Gscheid you reach Waldkirch and climb the Kandel from the northern side. Through St. Peter and St. Märgen the Feldberg region motorcycle tour continues into the Hexenloch at Dreistegen, then via Furtwangen, Prechtal and Wolftal back to Kappelrodeck to the Hex vom Dasenstein. A quieter sightseeing day through wine villages like Durbach and Zell-Weierbach to the medieval town of Gengenbach. Past the Vogtsbauernhof open-air museum and the world's largest cuckoo clock you continue to Triberg's waterfalls and on to Furtwangen's clock museum. The scenic B500 panorama road brings you to Titisee and Schluchsee. Around 230 kilometres.

The Danube source motorcycle tour begins at the Brigach spring, rides to the Martinskapelle and through the Bregtal to Donaueschingen and the source pool of the Danube. On to the Danube Swallow Hole and the Danube Gorge with towering limestone walls, before the Aachtopf — Germany's largest spring — shows the vanished river water emerging again. Around 300 kilometres.

A full day dedicated to the peaks of the Black Forest: Belchen, Blauen, Herzogenhorn, Schauinsland, Silberberg, Stübenwasen and Toter Mann line up one after another, with the Feldberg motorcycle stage as the highest point. Curve after curve, view after view — around 250 kilometres of pure riding enjoyment.

After the volcanic landscape of the Hegau the ferry from Meersburg to Konstanz takes you across, then past the Gnadensee and Untersee to the Swiss town of Stein am Rhein. The Rhine Falls motorcycle stage ends at the powerful waterfall before you return to the base hotel on Lake Constance. Around 270 kilometres.

The Hotzenwald motorcycle tour rides through wildly scenic, gorge-like forest valleys with sheer rock faces, where narrow lanes wind between stream and cliff. From the bare ridgelines clear weather offers a view over the High Rhine to the Swiss Alps. Around 270 kilometres.

After around 2,000 kilometres in the saddle and many strong impressions, the Black Forest motorcycle tour ends with individual journeys home. Riders with rental bikes return their machines together before everyone heads their own way.
